Brady Hoke is not worried about the temperature of his seat as the Michigan Wolverines head coach is certainly on the hot seat after a 7-6 season a year ago.

Hoke has experienced some ups in his career in Ann Arbor, such as his 11-2 record in his first season in 2011, including a win in the Sugar Bowl and a top 10 ranking. But he’s also experienced some lows as his 3-5 Big Ten record and lackluster showing against Kansas State in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl would suggest.

When Hoke addressed the assembled media at Big Ten Media Days at the Chicago Hilton on Monday, he admitted he isn’t concerned with what outsiders think of his performance.

"“I’ve never worried about what other people think in anything I’ve done,” Hoke said. “The only pressure is, every day, preparing those guys for life after football.”"

Hoke has an important decision to make when fall practice kicks off and that is whether Devin Gardner or Shane Morris will be the team’s starting quarterback.

Much like his head coach, Gardner has had his fair share of ups and downs in his Michigan career and missed the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl last year that Morris started and looked like the team’s best player in the 31-14 defeat. Gardner is the likely choice under center with Morris getting some reps in certain situations, but Gardner hopes to play Hoke off the hot seat.

“Everybody’s going to say whatever they want to say,” Michigan quarterback Devin Gardner said, via MLive.com. “My job is to make sure he’s not on the hot seat, and that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to make sure we win football games.”

Whether it is Gardner or Morris under center this year, one thing is sure, another seven-win season at Michigan won’t be enough to keep Hoke in Ann Arbor for a fifth season.
