The MLB Trade Deadline is almost here which means that we’re going to be hearing both big and little deals get made as the deadline approaches.

More from Chicago Cubs

All eyes are on names like David Price, Giancarlo Stanton and Jon Lester at the moment but there are other trades to be made that could have deep impacts in the postseason hunt.

One of those trades might end up being the acquisition by the Los Angeles Dodgers of soon-to-be former Chicago Cubs second baseman Darwin Barney. According to Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune, the Cubs are finalizing a deal that sends Barney to the Dodgers.

It’s not a splashy trade, as Barney is essentially spare parts for a bad Cubs team, but the Dodgers might be able to get something out of him. He won’t be expensive to acquire and he may end up thriving in the right system.

There’s no saying he gets a Major League roster spot or even pans out for the Dodgers, but this is a low risk trade that may pay off big at the right time.
