The most highly anticipated college football season ever is set to kickoff next month, on August 27th. The reason this season is so highly anticipated? It is because the Bowl Championship Series is being replace by the College Football Playoff beginning in 2014.

The new postseason format will create two national semifinals to be played New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day, with the winners advancing.

With so much hype and excitement surrounding the playoff format, every single school and team would like nothing more than to be right in the middle of it all come seasons end. With expectations through the roof at universities around the country, the possibility of trap games taking place throughout the year is much, much higher.

A “trap game” is a game that is played before or after a tough or rival opponent. Teams have a tendency to look past an opponent preparing for the following week’s game, (or further yet down the schedule) or have a letdown after beating a tough or rival opponent.

Everyone’s eyes are on the prize at the end of the year, but you cannot overlook each and every opponent throughout the season. If you do, you just might find yourself in a trap and the heavily favored better beware! Lets take a look at the top 5 trap games of the 2014 season.
