Ohio State QB Braxton Miller has always been in the accelerated program. He can accelerate to speeds of 4.46 — likely faster. He was quick to get completions in the NCAA, throwing 8-for-12 and 13o yards in his first game as a true freshman. He heals quickly, too.

He injured his shoulder last season, which did not require surgery due to his fast physical improvement. During his most recent stage of rehab, they asked him to begin to throw a tennis ball.

“Yeah, I threw a tennis ball for one day,” Miller told ESPN.com on Monday. “One day, and then they were like, ‘Wow, you’re throwing pretty good. You can move up to a football.’

“I was just like, ‘Yeah, I’m ready to go.’ My body is ready to go.”

It’s a shoulder renaissance.

“I feel like it’s stronger,” Miller said. “Man, everything that was damaged in there has been cleaned out. So even if I didn’t have that injury, I feel like everything from before that injury has been cleaned out. I barely had any rust when I came back. With my footwork and everything like that, I had been focused on that throughout the spring. That’s all I was doing, going back to work on my footwork, breaking down the defenses, and I watched a lot of film to make sure everything’s good.”

Miller 2.0 will open the season against Navy on August 30 as a frontrunner for the Heisman Trophy. While he’s a do-it-all player, the departure of Carlos Hyde will provide Miller and even larger opportunity to put the offense on his back.
