Although they wound up meeting both of their goals, the Seminoles did not enter the regular season with much hype. The 2012 Seminoles, who finished 12-2, won the ACC and defeated the Northern Illinois Huskies but the season was labeled as a disappointment because of losses to the North Carolina State Wolfpack and Florida Gators. The Seminoles then lost a school-record 11 players to the 2013 NFL Draft, leading many to believe 2014 would be a bit of a rebuilding year. The Clemson Tigers, who had a returning quarterback Tajh Boyd and a superstar wide receiver in Sammy Watkins, were instilled as the favorites.
The Seminoles, of course quickly proved the experts wrong, pummeling the Tigers in Death Valley 51-14 in the first half of season before eventually winning that third National Title. This year, most have made the Seminoles the favorite to repeat as National Champions and with Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Jameis Winston back, they will likely be ranked number one by most preaseason polls.
Our friends over at Bovada have started releasing their college conference odds and the Seminoles are the overwhelming favorite to repeat as ACC Champions.
