If there was one word to explain the Vikings offense over the last several years it certainly would not be “versatile”. Pro Bowl Vikings running back Adrian Peterson would agree with that assessment for previous years, but this year he believes things will turn out differently.

In an interview with ESPN, Peterson noted that the Vikings offense has been predictable over these last several years, but that is all about to change:

"Let’s call it what it is: I thought in the past, we’ve been predictable. I’m sure you guys wrote stories about us being predictable the past seven years. You won’t be able to write that story this year. That’s pretty much all I’m saying. You won’t be able to do that, because this offense is so versatile."

The Vikings drafted former Louisville standout Teddy Bridgewater with the 32nd overall pick in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft. While he may not get his chance right away, reports are surfacing that he has looked outstanding in training camp thus far.

More from Minnesota Vikings

With the addition of new offensive coordinator Norv Turner, and the explosive play of second year wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson, the Vikings are slowly but surely turning into one of the NFL’s most explosive offenses.

The question will ultimately become, however, whether or not the team can move the ball without putting too much of a burden on Adrian Peterson, and thus reverting back to being predictable. If the Vikings have a steady passing attack alongside Peterson next season, they could turn out to be one of the league’s best turnarounds.
