For those of you not familiar with the Commonwealth Games, they are an Olympic-style event open to all members of the Commonwealth of Nations, which consists mostly of current and former British Colonies.  The 2014 games are being held on Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom.

These games usually don’t garner much attention outside of the British Empire, but sometimes there are exceptions.  Like this incredible 41-shot table tennis rally.

This was between Segun Toriola of Nigeria(in yellow) and Gao Ning(in red) of Singapore.

Even casual fans of table tennis can appreciate the skill that this takes.

Ning ended up winning the match 3-1, but Toriola gave us possibly the best moment of the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Most of us have played table tennis, or ping pong if you will, at various recreation centers throughout our lives.  Many of us have seen or participated in full games that didn’t feature 41 rally shots.

Perhaps the sad part about all of this is that most of these tables are in colleges across the country, but few of them are still used for their intended purpose.  Now that beer pong has become all the rage at frat parties and block parties alike, a lot of people in this generation don’t realize that this game is supposed to be played with paddles.

Although it may not be such a bad thing to keep paddles away from drunk guys…..
