Game of Thrones: George R.R. Martin to sit out Season 5

As most of you who religiously watch the hit HBO Original Series Game of Thrones know by now, George R.R. Martin, the man who is responsible for the source material used to bring the kingdom of Westeros to life in Game of Thrones has always been very hands on in the making of the series.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said when Game of Thrones returns for its fifth season.

According to an interview the bestselling author gave to Vulture, he will mostly be sitting on the sidelines this season; however, before you freak out, just know that it is for a very noble cause.

If you have been following the A Song of Ice and Fire series which inspired the show, you will know that there is supposed to be a new book coming in the series – one that fans have been waiting on for quite some time.

The good news is, in his time away from the show he will be dedicating all of his efforts on finishing The Winds of Winter, the penultimate book in the beloved series.

If nothing else, this should take away most of the sting of not having Martin around for the next season. Know in your hearts that he is in a much better place doing the noble work he set out to do so many years ago. Plus, we may finally get a release date on the new book in the series, and that certainly has to count for something.

Just keep telling yourself, sometimes we must sacrifice something in order to attain the things we truly desire.

Game of Thrones premieres its fifth season in April of 2015 on HBO.
