Mon Denson commits to South Carolina: Gamecocks land 3-star RB
Three days after receiving an offer from South Carolina, three-star running back Mon Denson (LaGrange, Ga./LaGrange) committed to the Gameococks on Tuesday afternoon.
Denson is the nation’s No. 39 ranked running back, No. 532 recruit overall in the nation regardless of position and the No. 51 recruit in the state of Georgia, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
The 6-0, 215-pound Denson chose the Gamecocks over Arkansas, North Carolina, Tennessee and Wisconsin.

Denson is now the second running back to commit for Steve Spurrier’s 2015 class, joining AJ Turner who committed earlier this summer at Nike’s “The Opening” and part of the appeal of choosing South Carolina was the depth chart and opportunity to contribute early and alongside Turner.
“The thing that stood out was the depth chart,” Denson tells 247Sports. “I liked them all, but I could see the chance for early playing time (at South Carolina). I talked things over at the camp, once I was offered, with AJ Turner, and I think that we will be a good duo.”
“Me and AJ Turner had talked it over, that there was one spot left,” Denson said. “They were recruiting four or six running backs, so I wanted to go ahead and fill that spot up.”
With today’s commitment from the three-star running back, South Carolina now has 25 commitments for the 2015 class that currently ranks as the nation’s No. 4 class and the No. 3 class in the SEC, trailing the Alabama Crimson Tide, Texas A&M Aggies and Clemson Tigers in the 247Sports team rankings.
