Patrick Peterson, Arizona Cardinals agree to five-year, $70M extension
By Jack Crosby
Well everyone was wondering when the Arizona Cardinals and star cornerback Patrick Peterson would strike a deal on an extension, and that has finally happened on Tuesday night. Just a short time ago, Peterson announced on his twitter account that he and the team have come to terms on a five-year extension worth $70 million with $48 million guaranteed.
It was reported earlier in the day on Tuesday that he and the team were coming very close to reaching an agreement, and those reports have turned out to be true.

This is a huge deal not only for Peterson, but the Cardinals organization as well. Entering the final year of his rookie deal this season, Peterson seemed as if he didn’t want to be anywhere but Arizona, which is why it’s rather convenient that the two sides were able to come to terms.
Some consider Peterson the best at his position in the game today, while some consider him second to the Seahawks’ Richard Sherman, who received a lucrative extension of his own earlier this offseason. Once that occurred, plus the Browns paying their star defensive back Joe Haden, we all knew it wouldn’t be long before Peterson would be walking to the bank as well.
