Ty’Son Williams commits to North Carolina: Tar Heels land 4-Star RB
It looked like it would be a dark day on the recruiting trail for the North Carolina Tar Heels on Tuesday. One of their biggest coups, 4-Star safety Ronnie Harrison of Florida State University School in Tallahassee, Florida was expected to announce his decommitment from North Carolina and subsequent commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide. The 6’3, 205-pounder originally committed to the Tar Heels in July of 2013 but has since picked up offers from just about every elite program in the south.

However, before Harrison officially announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide, the Tar Heels received good news when 4-Star running back Ty’Son Williams gave his pledge to the Tar Heels. The 5’11, 200-pounder attends Crestwood High School in Sumter, South Carolina so many believed he was a South Carolina Gamecocks’ lean, but that was obviously not the case. Instead, he fell in love with the Tar Heels during their “Freak Show,” a camp they held back in June.
Ross Martin of 24/7 Sports has the scoop.
"“I feel like I made the best decision for me and my family,” Williams told CarolinaBlue. Williams last visited UNC for the Freak Show on June 21st and almost committed that night. “I went to the Freak Show and checked out the campus,” Williams explained. “I got a real good feeling, like I could see myself going here. It was a great feeling.”"
Williams is ranked as the country’s 23rd-best running back prospect, the third-best overall prospect in the state of North Carolina and the 269th-best overall prospect in the class of 2015 according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings. He also holds offers from the Clemson Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs and Notre Dame Fighting Irish, among others.
