New York Giants running back David Wilson has been ruled out of practice for the week as well as the first of five preseason games for the New York Giants, per ESPN’s Dan Graziano.

While he has been cleared for full contact after undergoing spinal surgery, it’s clear that Wilson will be eased into action. With an extra preseason game on their schedule, the Giants can afford to take their time and assess the third-year back at each level of his return.

Given that his career was in jeopardy this offseason, the move is prudent to say the least.

The Giants are set to play the Buffalo Bills in Canton, Ohio on Sunday following the Hall of Fame inductions where Bills and Giants legends Andre Reed and Michael Strahan respectively will be inducted on the preceding Saturday.

In addition to Reed and Strahan, Derrick Brooks, Ray Guy, Claude Humphrey, Walter Jones, and Aeneas Williams will receive their gold jackets and witness the revealing of their busts set for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Tickets are still available for Sunday’s game, which is set to begin at 8PM on Sunday.
