Just like New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera last season, shortstop Derek Jeter is making his farewell tour through ballparks across the league this season. And just like Rivera’s tour, Jeter is being bestowed gifts by every team along the way.

The Yankees are playing the Texas Rangers this week, and they honored Jeter before the game. Rangers legend Michael Young and Pudge Rodriguez were on hand for the festivities.

The Rangers gave him a pair of cowboy boots with Jeter’s name and with the “NY” logo. They donated $10,000 to Jeter’s “Turn 2” Foundation. Young, Rodriguez and Jeter are standing on the field when out of the dugout comes former Rangers owner and former President George W. Bush.

Bush and Jeter have a little history dating back to his days in the Oval Office. Before Game 3 of the 2001 World Series, right after the horrific tragedy on 9/11, Bush was on hand at Yankees Stadium to throw out the first pitch.

Jeter famously told Bush to throw from the mound and get it over the plate or they’ll boo, and they recapped the tale on the scoreboard. Then out came Bush himself with a framed photo of Jeter giving Bush the advice before the game.
