With every other deal done, the Miami Heat have officially re-signed two-time NBA champion Chris Bosh.

Following the news, Heat president Pat Riley released this statement in regards to Bosh’s official signing.

“Chris Bosh is a two-time NBA champion and one of the most versatile big men in the league,” Heat president Pat Riley said. “His unique skillset makes him one of the best players in the game today. I’ve always felt he was committed to this organization, this staff and this city.

“I think he’s going to have the opportunity of a lifetime leading this team next season and having the nine-time NBA All-Star back in the fold was a big key for us. We are very blessed to have him.”

Bosh’s return to Miami still doesn’t feel real. Once LeBron James made his decision to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston felt like the preferred destination for Bosh. At least, until Pat Riley laid out a max contract that made leaving a tough decision.

Now signed for the next five years for the summation of $118.7 million, Bosh will be the lead star on a Miami Heat team who looks to still compete in the Eastern Conference. With James gone, the Heat quickly looked to improve their current roster, adding Luol Deng, Josh McRoberts, and Danny Granger to the fold. Along with the re-signings of Mario Chalmers, Udonis Haslem, and team captain Dwyane Wade (and the additions of James Ennis, Justin Hamilton, and first-round pick Shabazz Napier), the Heat have rebounded well.

With James gone, many expect Chris Bosh, as the number one option, to put up statistics that mirror his Toronto Raptors days.
