It looks like Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy has given himself a new nickname, and it is an interesting choice.

More from Green Bay Packers

“Eddie has a self-appointed nickname of ‘Moss,’ as in Randy Moss,” quarterback Aaron Rodgers said, via the team’s website. “He thinks he’s got incredible hands. His hands actually are very good.”

Not only is it odd that the large and brutal running back Lacy chose a slim dynamic wide receiver to compare himself too, he also chose a famous Minnesota Vikings player. The Packers and Vikings of course have a heated NFC North divisional rivalry which included Moss pretending to moon Packers fans.

Of course Lacy was trying to make the point that he has good hands and can be a factor in the passing offense of the Packers, and Rodgers seems to agree.

In 2013, Lacy’s rookie season, he caught 35 of 44 passes that came his way for 257 yards. That has him as the seventh leading receiver on the team.

Lacy was making a case for his involvement in the passing attack.

“It expands the offense, first and foremost,” Lacy said. “It gives the quarterback another target. Even if it’s not a 10-yard, 20-yard pass down the field, those 4- and 5-yard passes, it moves the chains and wears down the interior defense as well.”
