Raiders’ Derek Carr has been ‘hit-and-miss’ early in training camp
By Mike Dyce
It looks like quarterback Matt Schaub’s stranglehold on the starting position for the Oakland Raiders looks like it is getting clearer. Schaub is described as being particularly accurate while rookie quarterback Derek Carr is “hit-and-miss.”
From CSN Bay Area:
"Schaub’s accuracy has been evident during an excellent start to camp. While Carr has been hit-and-miss, his athleticism is tough to ignore. If things go south, he can take off running."

The Raiders are giving Carr freedom to run, and it is an interesting dimension to consider. But considering that was what Terrelle Pryor brought to the table you think they’d stick with the accurate pocket passer in Schaub.
Scahub’s former teammate with the Houston Texans Antonio Smith, who made the switch this offseason as well, has raved about Schaub’s in-camp performance.
“Schaubby’s getting his mojo back,” Smith said, via the San Francisco Chronicle. “He’s getting his confidence back. He’s starting to believe in himself again. He is starting to throw with confidence. You would be surprised just how much your mindset is important in this league.”
