The Tampa Bay Rays are in the midst of a hot streak, but despite their impressive play they’ve yet to make up much ground on the division leading Baltimore Orioles.

That may be a reason as to why the Tampa Bay Rays have decided to trade ace pitcher David Price as according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, a trade involving Price is ‘definitely’ going to happen.

A move involving David Price would be one of a handful of trades involving All-Star level pitchers including Jon Lester and John Lackey, both of whom were traded earlier in the day Thursday. However, David Price is certain to command a bigger return than either player considering his talent level and the fact that he’s signed through the rest of the 2014 season and the 2015 season.

As to the teams that are showing interest, that’s currently an unknown. The Los Angeles Dodgers have been interested in David Price for over a season and have reportedly talked about Price with the Rays for a few weeks now, though it’s unknown if they’re willing to part with a collection of their top prospects in exchange for the Cy Young award winner.

The St. Louis Cardinals were another team linked to Price in the past however with their additions of Justin Masteron and John Lackey, it’s safe to say they’re likely out of  the running.

In addition, the Seattle Mariners have also been rumored to have interest in David Price, though his agent reportedly informed the team he has no interest in re-signing with the franchise so it seems questionable if they’d take such a risk.
