The Florida Gators are slowly but surely starting to pick up some momentum on the recruiting trail and on Friday evening landed a big commitment from four-star linebacker Adonis Thomas (Lawrenceville, Ga. Central Gwinnett) who becomes the 10th member of the 2015 class of Will Muschamp.

Thomas committed to the Gators over the Alabama Crimson Tide and is now the Gators’ third highest-ranked commit on board for this year’s class, trailing No. 40 overall recruit Jerome Baker and No. 156 recruit Derrick Dillon.

The 6-3.5, 229-pound linebacker is the nation’s No. 168 recruit overall regardless of position, No. 10 outside linebacker and the No. 18 recruit in the state of Florida, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Thomas is the first true linebacker to commit to this year’s class, although Baker is expected to line up at one of the three linebacker spots, but is designated as an athlete on the composite rankings.

With the addition of Thomas, Florida now has the nation’s No. 26 class and the No. 10 class in the SEC, according to the 247Sports team rankings.

Florida can be a late charger up the ranks if the new offense under first-year offensive coordinator Kurt Roper can bring the success he had in recent seasons at Duke and bring that to The Swamp.

If the offense thrives with Jeff Driskel under center and running backs and wide receivers are putting up big stats, then the recruits will take notice and want to head to Gainesville.
