Auburn QB Nick Marshall will not start season opener vs. Arkansas
By Jack Crosby
The college football season will get off to a tremendous start in the SEC this season, beginning with a match up between the Auburn Tigers and Arkansas Razorbacks. However, to start the game, Auburn’s dynamic quarterback, Nick Marshall, will not be in the starting lineup.
This was a move that was more or less expected, following the news a few weeks ago that Marshall was cited for marijuana possession. At SEC Media Days, just a few days after the news broke about Marshall’s snafu with the law, head coach Gus Malzahn said that he would face some consequences. At the time, we did not know what that meant. But now we do.

However, this is not as big of a loss as some might think.
How much time in the game that Marshall will miss will probably be rather low. He will either be out for the first quarter, or the first half, at the most.
Starting in place of him will be Jeremy Johnson, who no doubt has a lot of fans within the Auburn fan base, even thought Marshall led the team to the national championship game last season.
So for a short time in the opener against the Razorbacks, Johnson will get to show what he can do.
