Costa netted a goal from a perfect through ball, out-running two defenders in his first match with the club. Cesc Fabregas’ free kick strike impressed coaches and fans alike, instilling confidence in newly chosen manager Jose Mourinho.

After a third place finish in the English Premier League last season, Chelsea fans are expecting more from the newly upgraded roster. Chelsea also added Brazillian RB Filipe Luis and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba from Galatasaray.

Mourinho, who managed Chelsea from 2004-2007, has tremendous confidence in his new selections. On Diego Costa, he said, “Technically he is very, very good. That’s why, lots of the players are so happy and so surprised, because his quality is even higher than what they expect,” according to the Daily Star.

He also added that the roster additions bring Chelsea stability.

Costa and Fabregas can bolster the already impressive attack with more speed and strength while signing Drogba will provide valuable first team experience and leadership to a club filled with young talent.

The Chelsea faithful expects nothing less than a Barclays Premier League title and a run for the Champions Cup.
