The Mariners’ Mike Zunino drives one over the wall against the Indians, and this Indians fan has the ball right in his hands but OH MY GOD HE DROPS IT.

More from Cleveland Guardians

The fan’s reaction is priceless. YOU HAD IT BUT YOU DROPPED IT YOU BIG IDIOT. CAN’T YOU DO ANYTHING RIGHT???

WHY MUST YOU FAIL AT EVERYTHING YOU ATTEMPT???

The whole crushing weight of that guy’s squandered existence comes down on his shoulders in that one moment. It’s an expression of impotence and futility that would impress even Hemingway.

Dropping a home run ball and having your junk blown off in World War I so you can’t have sex with the woman you love and have to continually watch her going off with other men who you know aren’t worthy of her…pretty much the same thing.

I’m just kidding of course. I’m sure that guy has lived a rich, full life. He quickly got over missing his chance to catch a home run ball.

You can’t redeem an entire life in one instant anyway. Unless you do something insanely self-sacrificing like chuck the Emperor into a shaft.
