On Sept. 5, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza will be facing off against Gegard Mousasi in the main event of UFC Fight Night 50 at the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, Connecticut.
It is an intriguing and important bout in the middleweight division, with the winner potentially earning the next crack at the UFC middleweight championship.
If all goes according to plan for Jacare, he will be “annihilating” Mousasi in front of the Connecticut crowd before demanding a shot at the title.
“Fighting him again it’s like just another fight,” said Souza, via Bloody Elbow. “I’m ready to annihilate my opponent and have another victory in the UFC. I’m going to stop Mousasi. I’ve come to be undefeated in the UFC to lose to nobody. People have to keep believing in me because I’m going to be the champion of this division. But first I have to beat Mousasi to ask for something, and after this fight I’ll ask for a title shot.”
The first time that Jacare and Mousasi fought, it was Mousasi who came away with the win after an upkick.
Since that knockout loss, Jacare has gone 10-1 with one no contest.
Whether or not he would earn a title shot with a win over Mousasi remains to be seen, but it would certainly be a step in the right direction.
Another option for Jacare if he gets past Mousasi is a rematch with Luke Rockhold, who is his lone defeat since the loss to Mousasi back in DREAM.
We will just have to wait and see how it all plays out on Sept. 5.
