The battle this offseason to become the Miami Hurricanes starting quarterback, taking over for the departed Stephen Morris, has certainly been in interesting one to watch play out. And it got even more interesting on Friday with the news that maybe the front runner to land the job, Kevin Olsen, will be suspended one game this season for a failed drug test.
Miami Hurricanes QB Kevin Olsen will be suspended for at least 1 game this season for failed drug test. No comment from UM at this point.

This is a blow to the depth chart at Miami, a program that doesn’t really need it at the position, but also more or less guarantees that Kansas transfer Jake Heaps will be the starting quarterback when the season opens up on Labor Day night against Louisville.
Coming into the spring, Ryan Williams was projected by many to be the man to take over under center for Morris, however a knee injury ended those hopes for the season.
When Heaps decided to transfer from Kansas after he lost the job this spring, it was a huge boost to the Miami program this training camp, because the more options they have at the position, the better.
But unless they really want to give freshman Brad Kaaya an honest look, it seems that Heap will be the guy going forward for Miami.
