NBA Power Rankings: 5 best small forwards

While the shooting guard position has come under a great deal of scrutiny in recent seasons, the NBA is in fantastic shape with regard to the best small forwards in the league. The position is occupied by the two best players in the world in Kevin Durant and LeBron James, but more than that, there is a large “upper-middle class” of star-like players who can provide teams with lead options on the offensive end, while simultaneously maintaining respectability (at a minimum) defensively.

In this space, we will rank the top five players at the position in today’s NBA, and while age could be a concern with regard to building a team moving forward, this is a listing of their abilities right now. Let’s get it going with a group of honorable mentions, followed by a descending list from five to one.
