So about Dustin Johnson taking a leave of absence from the PGA tour for mysterious reasons. It seems Dustin’s “leave of absence” is less a leave than a suspension. And it seems the reason for the suspension is drug-related.

More from Golf

According to Golf.com, Johnson has been hit with a six-month ban by the PGA after testing positive for cocaine. A source tells Golf.com that Johnson has flunked three drug tests since 2009, one for marijuana and two for cocaine.

Johnson was previously suspended for a 2012 failed test but that suspension was never made public.

In a statement after taking his “leave of absence,” Johnson spoke about needing to seek professional help for…something:

"“I will use this time to seek professional help for personal challenges I have faced,” he said in a statement issued by his management company. “By committing the time and resources necessary to improve my mental health, physical well-being and emotional foundation, I am confident that I will be better equipped to fulfill my potential and become a consistent champion.”"

Johnson has reportedly notified the Ryder Cup through his agent that he will not be able to participate in the event this year.

The 30-year-old Johnson had been in the middle of a great year, amassing one victory, seven top tens and $4.2 million in earnings. Since last year, Johnson has been engaged to Internet sensation Paulina Gretzky.
