San Diego Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen has putting in some work in the offseason and it is noticeable in training camp. In the offseason he trained at Prolific Athletes in Carlsbad with renown speed coach Ryan Flaherty and his speed is improved, so much so that his teammates are taking notice.

“It just makes him a more powerful threat when he’s that good at the line and has speed behind it,” Shareece Wright said, via the Union-Tribune San Diego. “A lot of times, he will win at the line, but when you’ve got recovery speed, you can make up for that. Now that he’s faster, it’s not going to be as easy to make up once you lose at the line. He’s going to be open on more of his routes.”

And he isn’t the only one noticing.

“He always was a great route runner,” quarterback Philip Rivers said. “There just seems to be a little more juice. I think that’s fair. If he can maintain that, it’s only going to broaden what he can do. If he develops to where he can really run by you and find ways to get chunk plays down the field — he’s so good intermediate — that’s just going to complete the whole package for him.”
