It is August. That, in and of itself, means that football is on the way, and with NCAA Football getting set to kick things off this month, “preview” coverage is an absolute necessity. With that, the big guns like defending national champion Florida State and vaunted SEC powers including Alabama and Auburn are getting plenty of attention as contenders in the first year of the four-team playoff, and deservedly so.

However, there is often a darkhorse or two that emerge throughout the college football schedule, and in this space, we will break down ten of the more “under-the-radar” teams across the land. For reference, they will come to you in alphabetical order, and none of the ten are ranked among the top ten teams in the preseason USA Today Amway coaches poll. Let’s get it going.
