On Friday night, the Team USA Basketball Showcase in Las Vegas, Nevada came to a screeching halt when Indiana Pacers star Paul George suffered a gruesome lower leg injury.

More from Indiana Pacers

George was making a routine defensive play as he chased James Harden of the Houston Rockets down the court.

When George landed after making a leap to defend the shot, he came down awkwardly on his leg and it instantly snapped in half. George left the court on a stretcher and the remainder of the game was called off.

If you think that saying “George’s leg snapped in half” is hyperbole, no.

That is exactly what happened.

Here is a video of the injury:

WARNING: Extremely graphic video.

Following the injury, statements were released by the Indiana Pacers, NBA commissioner Adam Silver, and there was even a heartfelt message from Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James.

From NBA Commissioner Adam Silver:

"“It was difficult to watch the injury that Paul George sustained tonight while representing his country. The thoughts and prayers of all of us at the NBA are with Paul and his family.”"

From Pacers president Larry Bird:

"“We are aware of the injury sustained by Paul George in Friday night’s Team USA game in Las Vegas and we are obviously greatly concerned. At this time our thoughts and prayers are with Paul. We are still gathering details and we will have an updated statement Saturday.”"

We would like to wish George the best as he prepares for an intense rehab process and hope that he can make a full and speedy recovery.
