On Sunday, the Volunteers added their fifth commitment in the class of 2016 when 4-Star quarterback Austin Kendall gave his pledge to the Volunteers.  Kendall has taken visits to Tennessee twice in the last three weeks and the last one sealed the deal.

“I sat down with my family a week ago, and it came down to Kentucky and Tennessee,” said Kendall via Ryan Callahan of 24/7 Sports.

“I just wanted to see how this weekend went, and it went great. Ultimately, Tennessee is the right fit for me. I’m a Vol, and it feels great.”

Over time, Kendall has developed a great relationship with Volunteers’ head coach Butch Jones and his staff.

“I have a great relationship with the whole staff. I mean, it’s just a great feel. It fits my offense. I’ll have that offense at my (new) school, Cuthbertson, and I’m just looking forward to it. Tennessee has always been one of my tops, and I just wanted to get more of a feel (for it by) just spending the night there, and that kind of sealed it.”

The 6’2, 205-pounder is from Waxhaw, North Carolina and Cuthbertson High School. He is ranked as the country’s ninth-best pro style quarterback prospect, the sixth-best overall prospect from the state of North Carolina and the 168th-best overall prospect in the class of 2016 according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.

Kendall also holds offers from the Boston College Eagles, Miami Hurricanes and Virginia Cavaliers, among others.
