It’s not very often that a player, just months removed from being the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft craves a desire to be wanted. But that’s exactly what Andrew Wiggins of the Cleveland Cavaliers is feeling right now.

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

Even before the Cavaliers decided to draft Andrew Wiggins, there were rumors swirling that Cleveland could move the selection to the Minnesota Timberwolves in exchange for Kevin Love. That didn’t happen and it was thought that Wiggins would likely be staying with the Cleveland Cavaliers, especially since teams like the Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics all seemed to be ahead of Cleveland in the race to acquire Love.

However, most of those teams dropped out or lacked the needed assets to obtain the disgruntled power forward leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers and their offer of Andrew Wiggins as the best available package.

Of course, after signing his rookie contract, Andrew Wiggins was not able to be traded for thirty days and the trade rumors only grew after such, leaving the rookie to ponder his future.

Appearing on ESPN’s SportsCenter on Sunday morning, the former Kansas Jayhawk suggested that he wants to feel wanted.

More often than not, a team will bend over backward for their first round pick, let alone the top pick in the draft. Given that, it’s a little odd to see the Cavaliers being mildly distant from Wiggins, though they need to be careful if for some reason no trade goes down and they’ve alienated themselves from their rookie.
