Steve Spurrier takes a shot at the Big Ten while praising East Carolina
By Dan Zinski
Sometimes a compliment is a compliment, but sometimes a compliment is really a dig. Steve Spurrier gave us a nice demonstration of the latter with his remarks about East Carolina and the Big Ten.

Spurrier’s South Carolina Gamecocks have East Carolina on the schedule this year, so you’d expect him to come with the usual bullcrap praise that canny coaches always heap on the teams they’re playing, but Spurrier’s chocolatey talking up of East Carolina had a center of pure hating cream.
"“Playing East Carolina is maybe a little bit better than playing one of those bottom-tier Big Ten teams,” Spurrier said (via 247 Sports)."
Now why did you have to go and do that Steve Spurrier? Why did you have to remind Illinois, Indiana and Maryland of how bad they stink?
Why is it necessary to bring up the perennial weakness of the Big Ten, especially that bottom end which tends to be filled with absolute dogcrap teams?
I hope Urban Meyer hears this and gives Spurrier the shot he deserves. Old Florida coaches don’t have to necessarily stick together. Meyer needs to remember that he’s a Big Ten man now (at least until he finds a better gig and/or decides to spend more time with his family). He can’t let Florida loyalty get in the way of putting Spurrier in his place.
Damn Spurrier, you are one cold old bastard. The Big Ten isn’t THAT bad. Okay, maybe it is.
