The Paul George injury was brutal and gruesome to say the least, but the road to recovery is barely just beginning at this point as the Indiana Pacers star attempts to come back from his devastating leg injury.

More from Indiana Pacers

While not yet totally official, it’s more than probable that George misses the entire 2014-15 season and it’s starting to look like he could be out for the 2015 season as well, at least just the start of it.

According to Sean Deveney from Sporting News, there’s a chance that Paul George isn’t ready for the start of next season either, as it could take up to 18 months for the superstar to get back to where he needs to be.

"Although Kersey is not George’s physician, either, he said it will likely take six to 12 weeks for the bone to fully heal and another six to 10 weeks for George to start walking normally. If all goes well, Kersey said George could be back in six to 12 months, though he warned it may take George as long as 18 months to start playing like his old self."

George’s situation was directly compared to that of Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose when he tore his ACL back in April 2012. Like Rose, George will have to take it step by step in his recovery and may not end up setting a timetable for his return, as rushing any part of this process may mean losing out on getting the Paul George we all know and love back the way he was before the injury.
