The Baltimore Ravens have gone this far in training camp without nose tackle Terrence Cody available to them, and it sounds like it will still be a while until he is able to take the field again.

More from Baltimore Ravens

Recovering from off-season hip surgery, Cody was placed on the PUP list last month after inking a new deal with the Ravens this past off-season. With the first round of preseason games just around the corner, Cody will not be ready to go anytime soon.

From Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun:

"Cody remains on the physically unable to perform list after undergoing offseason hip surgery. If Cody is still on the list and not activated when the regular season starts, then he has to miss at least the first six weeks of the season.“I would say no,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said when asked if he expects Cody to return within the next week or two."

The Alabama product is coming off a somewhat disappointing season in which he had 15 tackles in 12 games of action. Still, the nose tackle is still only 25 years old and will have plenty of chances to approach and hopefully meet the high expectations that his talent has promised since his arrival in the NFL.

As Wilson noted in his report, the focus for the Ravens right now is determining whether or not Cody will be available for the start of the regular season or not. Obviously there is no rushing a return from something as significant as a hip injury, especially when said hip injury is sustained by a guy who weighs more than three bills.

They will just have to wait and see on the status of their nose tackle, checking back in a couple weeks.
