College football recruiting is a bitter, nasty and sometimes shady affair, and it can cause feelings to get hurt at times. Such was the case when Atlanta-area 4-star linebacker Adonis Thomas verbally committed to the Florida Gators recently.

The backlash on Twitter, Facebook and other forms of media was quick and harsh from home-state Georgia fans. Some were so bitter over Thomas choosing SEC East rival Florida that they began claiming the Bulldogs never had a “committable” offer.

On Monday, Thomas answered his Georgia critics, who also claimed such things as Georgia was never recruiting Thomas and that the school never really wanted him anyway. He decided to post a picture on his Twitter account—a picture of his official scholarship offer letter from Georgia Bulldogs.

Thomas told 247Sports that he posted the letter, “For the UGA fans that said they backed off and that I wasn’t good enough for them because my offer wasn’t committable.”

In fact, he took a small swipe at the Bulldog fans while he was at it, putting his decision in pretty stark terms.

“They (UGA fans) have just been saying UGA never recruited me, I didn’t have a real offer from them that I could commit to, and that they never wanted me,” Thomas said. “I was just more interested in UF and Bama than UGA”

Thomas is the No. 168-ranked player in the 247Sports composite rankings, the No. 10-ranked outside linebacker and the No. 18-ranked player in the state of Georgia.

It’s stories like this that will continue to add fuel to the fire of one of the SEC’s most-bitter rivalries.
