Things get a little testy Monday in Bears practice. Tight end Martellus Bennett gets taken down hard by rookie cornerback Kyle Fuller during a drill, and Bennett retaliates by slamming the rook to the turf WWE-style. Save it for the other team boys!

More from Chicago Bears

You could argue it’s a little bit of an egregious hit by Fuller, but at the same time you have to appreciate the physicality by the rookie. The kid is trying to impress his teammates out there by showing he’s not afraid to mix it up. It’s pretty standard for someone who is trying to assert his manhood among other men. Pick out an Alpha dog and take them on. The other guys now know Fuller isn’t afraid.

Bennett kind of overreacts, but I guess you can understand it too. Veterans don’t want to be schooled by rookies. The vet has to assert himself out there too. It’s basically like watching wolves go at it. Fuller and Bennett have now both asserted supremacy.

Bennett, who got in a shouting match with Brandon Marshall after the Fuller incident, was unapologetic:

"“I come to training camp for one reason and that’s to prepare to win a championship,” Bennett said later at lunch. “I play hard and go hard every single day. I’m probably one of the most violent people on the field. That’s just my style of play. I’m going to continue to play the same way I always play. That’s what I’m here for."

You tell ’em big guy.
