The Boston Red Sox had one heck of a trade deadline strategy they rolled the dice with and it ended up netting them almost a whole new team.

More from Boston Red Sox

Aside from Yoenis Cespedes, the Sox landed Allen Craig and Joe Kelly from the St. Louis Cardinals as part of the John Lackey trade which helped add to their incredible haul. But the good times didn’t last very long, as one of those newly acquired pieces is already on the disabled list.

According to Maureen Mullen, Craig is headed to the DL with a newer report stating that it’s just the 15-day DL that Craig will be placed on thanks to the ankle injury he recently suffered.

It’s a tough break for the Sox and for Craig as it seemed like the two sides were hitting it off rather nicely in their short time together already. Craig’s injury isn’t too severe but he missed the Cardinals postseason run last year thanks to an injury so seeing him hurt again can’t make the Red Sox feel good right about now.
