Lionsgate is about to begin production on their upcoming supernatural adventure The Last Witch Hunter. There is still plenty of work to be done, but it seems as if there is one thing they can get ready to cross of their list a bit early.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wilfred actor Elijah Wood will be joining the cast of the film. At this point and time it is unknown exactly what role he will be playing in the film.
In the new film, Vin Diesel will play the role of a witch hunter who joins forces with a witch in order to prevent the covens of the city from unleashing a deadly plague on the city.
It will be interesting to see where Elijah Wood will fit into this picture. It would certainly not be the first time he has taken on an interesting and complex role. I mean, he has played everything from the role of creepy guy Kevin in the 2005 film Sin City to Frodo Baggins in The Lord of The Rings trilogy.
The Last Witch Hunter is being directed by Breck Eisner. This will be his first directorial effort since 2010 when he directed the horror thriller The Crazies.
The script for the film is being written by rookie screenwriter Cory Goodman along with Melisa Wallack. Goodman’s only other project was back in 2011 when he wrote the screenplay for Priest. Wallack has worked on films like Dallas Buyers Club and Mirror Mirror.
In addition to Elijah Wood, The Last Witch Hunter stars Fast & Furious actor Vin Diesel, The Dark Knight Rises actor Michael Caine, Game of Thrones actress Rose Leslie, and more.
As this particular point and time, there is no definitive release date for the film; however, as the production starts to kick into high gear that information is sure to make its way to the light.
