Giants’ Tom Coughlin: Odell Beckham ‘getting close’ to return
By Mike Dyce
The New York Giants lost wide receiver Hakeem Nicks to the Indianapolis Colts during the offseason, but replaced him with LSU wide receiver Odell Beckham in the first-round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Unfortunately for the Giants and Beckham, a hamstring issue that won’t go away has caused him to miss most of training camp so far.

But Beckham’s return to action could be coming soon.
“Sounds like he’s getting close,” coach Tom Coughlin said Wednesday, via NJ.com. “They have him doing a lot of things. They’re going to push him to do a little bit more today and then they are going to get a quarterback to throw to him and see how that goes too.
“So he’s getting close.”
It is hard for a rookie to miss training camp as he attempts to learn the offense ahead of his first season in the league. In addition to it being the first training camp for him, the Giants are all learning a new offense together, and Beckham is relegated to watching from the side line in the mean time.
If Beckahm can get healthy soon, he should still be expected to compete for a starting spot.
