It is good time to be Denver Nuggets’ forward Kenneth Faried.

More from Denver Nuggets

Faried is currently practicing with Team USA in hopes of one day making the national team. Not only is Faried one of the most exciting young athletes in the league, but the 24-year old is also in line for a contract extension and the two sides have had talks. Christopher Dempsey of The Denver Post reports the Nuggets and Faried have had “ongoing contract-extension talks” and that Faired isn’t worried about a new deal right now.

"It is one part of a big summer for Faried, one in which his representation and the Nuggets have had ongoing contract-extension talks, and one in which he’s adding to his offensive repertoire in order to come back next season with the same effectiveness with which he finished the 2013-14 season…“I’m not worried about it,” said Faried, who is entering the last season of his rookie-scale contract. “I’m just worried about USA Basketball right now. That’s the only thing I’m focused on right now. The extension, it will come when it comes. God has a plan. Whatever his plan is, he’s going to see it through.”Nuggets general manager Tim Connelly would not comment on contract talks but did note his pleasure at how Faried has played on the USA team."

Faried, a former Morehead State Eagle, was originally selected with the 22nd overall pick int he first round of the 2011 NBA Draft. Last season, he averaged 13.7 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.9 blocks per game while shooting 54.5% from the field and 65.0% from the free throw line.
