The Miami Dolphins get their first on the field action of the 2014 NFL season this friday when they travel to Atlanta to take on the Falcons in the team’s first preseason matchup.

More from Miami Dolphins

The first preseason game will give the Dolphins an idea of how the team is shaping up prior to the start of the regular season in September. With key offseason acquisitions such as Knowshon Moreno, Louis Delmas, and Cortland Finnegan, the Dolphins have certainly bolstered their roster from last season.

Lamar Miller, the Dolphins starting running back going into his third season with the team, can not wait for Friday to show off the hard work he has put in this offseason.

“I am pretty excited for Friday,” Miller told FanSided this morning after training camp practice. “I want to go out there, have fun, and compete”.

Miller has looked stellar thus far in training camp, showing off his newfound ability to run between the tackles and shed off would be tacklers in the process. With Knowshon Moreno behind him, Miller knows that he has to put up impressive numbers to stay on the field.

“The playcalling has changed a bit since last year, they want me to run inside more, so I will. As for Knowshon, I haven’t paid much attention to that, I just want to come out every day compete and get better.”

With the Dolphins season right around the corner it will be interesting to see how far Lamar has developed as a running back. With a strong training camp behind him, it seems that Lamar has all the tools to be a top-flight running back in the NFL this season.
