UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has been involved in starring roles for Hollywood blockbuster films such as The Expendables 3, Fast and Furious 7 and Entourage, but she has even higher goals outside of the Octagon.
Rousey admitted in an interview with ESPN Magazine that she did not initial set out to be an actress when her fighting career began, but she does now have a goal to be the highest grossing person in her new craft.
“I didn’t grow up wanting to be an action star. I just didn’t think it was in the cards,” Rousey told the magazine. “Now that it’s a possibility, I’m like, ‘Screw it, I don’t give a s***, if The Rock can become the world’s highest-grossing actor, I can have that same goal.”
Rousey is off to a good start with the level of films that she has been in, and the future is only brighter.
As Rousey continues to gain more popularity in the sport of mixed martial arts, more opportunities will present themselves outside of the cage.
Rousey is one of the rare athletes in MMA that can generate attention that strays from the hardcore fan base, so there is no doubt that she is destined for superstardom whether it be as an athlete or as a Hollywood action star.
