Eagles’ Mark Sanchez much happier about preseason role this year
By Mike Dyce
The New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles essentially swapped quarterbacks in the offseason, with Mark Sanchez heading to the City of Brotherly Love, while Michael Vick went to the Big Apple. Last year Sanchez was in a quarterback competition with rookie Geno Smith, and this season he is competing for a back up spot with Matt Barkley, a fellow former USC player.

Despite being relegated to a backup role, Sanchez says he is happy and just excited to play against the Chicago Bears.
“I’m just excited about the chance to play again,” Sanchez said, via Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News. “I feel good. If I’m healthy, like I am, there’s really nothing to worry about. I approach it like any other season. Sure, anything can happen, but I’m expecting some good stuff.”
A lot of his happiness is derived from the environment Chip Kelly has created with the Eagles.
“You’re always competing — against yourself, against the defense, against the other quarterbacks. That’s just the atmosphere that’s been cultivated here, and we like that,” Sanchez said. “It keeps it fun, it keeps it fresh. It keeps it exciting.”
