Jets RB Chris Ivory exits game against Colts with rib injury, will not return
By Jack Crosby
The running back position is going to be a huge point of emphasis this season for the New York Jets, and they suffered a minor setback early on in their preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts as projected starter Chris Ivory left the game with a rib injury. Shortly after, the team announced that he would not be returning.

With Ivory out, it was then time for the big free agent pickup, Chris Johnson, to carry the load and he he even scored a touchdown for the Jets down on the goal line from one yard out.
But this is a concerning development for the Jets, simply because they can’t afford to lose Ivory. While Johnson was indeed a big pick up in the offseason and will undoubtedly provide a boost, very few people believe that he can carry an entire team like he once did for the Tennessee Titans, where he made his name for himself in the league.
While in the game, Ivory had seven carries for a total of 17 yards on offense for the Jets.
The game now is currently at the half with the score all knotted up at 10. Colts quarterback Andrew Luck only saw time in the opening series before he was pulled.
