Most believed 3-Star cornerback Will Lockett was a lock to commit to the Texas Longhorns and would eventually give Charlie Strong’s squad his pledge.

More from College

After all, the 6’0, 182-pounder is from Manvel, Texas, attends Manvel High School and took an unofficial visit to the Longhorns just two weeks ago. However, a month before his visit to Austin, he received an offer from head coach Jim Mora, Jr. and the UCLA Bruins. Although Lockett continued to say he was high on the Bruins, 100% of the crystal ball projections on 24/7 Sports predicted Lockett to commit to the Longhorns.

That’s why it was a little bit of a surprise when he announced his verbal commitment to the Bruins on Thursday.

Lockett took to twitter to share his announcement.

Lockett is ranked as the country’s 77th-best cornerback prospect, the 113th-best overall prospect from the state of Texas and the 964th-best overall prospect in the class of 2015 according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings. Lockett also holds offers from Houston Cougars, Indiana Hoosiers, Kentucky Wildcats, Louisville Cardinals, Missouri Tigers and Washington Huskies, among others.

Lockett is the Bruins’ 14th commitment in the class of 2015. Their class is headlined by 5-Star pro style quarterback Josh Rosen, 4-Star tight end Aliz’e Jones, 4-Star center Fred Ulu-Perry, 4-Star offensive tackle Andre James, 4-Star offensive guard Tevita Halalilo and 4-Star wide receiver L.J. Reed (Their other eight commitments are listed as 3-Star prospects). Their class ranks 15th in the country and and second in the Pac-12.
