Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre says his relationship with the Packers is fine, now.

"“The ice has been broken,” Favre told WTMJ (620 AM) in Milwaukee Friday morning."

That icebreaker occurred earlier this week when the Packers announced Favre would be the lone inductee into the Packers Hall of Fame next July and that the franchise would also be retiring his No. 4 jersey at the same time.

When asked why it took six years after he left Green Bay for things to finally get patched up, Favre said:

"“[There were] things that you wish you would have done different, what ifs. You can’t go back. That’s the one thing I finally said, ‘It is what it is. It’s over. It’s done with. You can’t change that. You can change today and the future.’”"

Favre’s 16-year run in Green Bay came to an acrimonious end in August 2008, when he was traded to the New York Jets after ending a five-month retirement. Favre wanted to return to the Packers, who had built their entire offseason program around transitioning to new starter Aaron Rodgers.

"“The way things ended in Green Bay is very unfortunate,” Favre said. “We all can look back at something in our life … I share as much blame as anyone. It’s over and done with. We’re under way in getting a resolution here and it’s a good thing. We move on. We move past it.”"

Favre said the only reason no date has been set for a return in 2014 is because his first priority is following the volleyball season of his daughter in Hattiesburg, Miss.

"“They start their first volleyball match (Saturday),” Favre said. “They will play through the fall. I want to watch every game.”"

But the NFL’s leader in just about every meaningful career passing statistic said he won’t be a stranger in Packer country.

"“You will see me more in Green Bay,” Favre said. “I would like to go to a game in Green Bay this year and get that behind me. We haven’t set a date yet.”"

Favre did say he was back in Wisconsin in 2012 … just no one recognized him when he returned on a hunting trip.

Must have been the beard.
