Brian Kelly wants his team to saddle up and get ready for the season. Brian Kelly wants his players to sit tall in the saddle. Brian Kelly wants his player to think of him as a guy on a horse who looks like a little bit of a dork.

I’m brainstorming here, trying to come up with some idea of the point Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly was making when he rode into practice Friday on the back of a horse.

He’s a coach so you know there must have been some message, some point he was trying to convey to his players. Coaches love driving points home by doing weird things that no one understands. Cause writing words on a chalkboard…pffft, any loser can do that.

Riding a horse, now that will really get their attention. They will remember the message for sure. If they get the message in the first place, that is.
