CBS Sports to launch all-female sports talk show in the fall

The show, which is yet to have a confirmed title, will feature an all-female cast along with female producers and directors. The story was confirmed by The Big Lead, who interviewed David Berson, the head of CBS Sports, about the new show.

“We have been discussing and developing the show for well over a year. Internally and externally, there’s been universal enthusiasm and across-the-board support,” David Berson told The Big Lead. According to the article, the expected hosts of the new show will be Jenny Dell, Tracy Wolfson, Allie LaForce, Amy Trask, Dana Jacobson and Lesley Visser. The question remains whether the show will follow a traditional sports show format like Pardon the Interruption and Around the Horn.

The show is a pioneering effort for female journalists who add a lot to sports media. It’ll be interesting to see whether other networks follow the trend and adopt similar all-female shows. Berson did make the distinction that the show will not be a women’s sports issue show; it’s simply going to be a sports news program that features women as hosts.

Hopefully the show will have a good rotation of women to get new ideas, similar to that of Around the Horn. With the quality of the programs on ESPN, the new CBS show has a great blueprint to follow.
