In January of 2013, an Auburn Tigers fan made a big bet on his favorite team. At 500-1 odds, he bet 100 dollars on the Tigers to win the national title. The Tigers caught a couple breaks and, to be honest, downright miracles on their way to a 12-2 record in 2013. However, Auburn came up just one win short of the title last season, and the man lost his bet. But regardless, Auburn shocked the world just by getting to the championship game. Who will be this season’s Cinderella?

Teams with long shot odds to win the national title have something else going for them this season — the College Football Playoff. This season, two more teams will get a shot at the trophy in a four team bracket. This allows more spots for a dark horse team like Auburn to rise up from the depths of the AP polls to reach College Football’s biggest stage.
