Last season, it was widely thought that the Philadelphia Eagles had found their quarterback of the future in Nick Foles. After Michael Vick went down, Foles stepped in and was about as great as you could expect any quarterback to be. He only threw two interceptions to 21 touchdowns, and even led the team to an NFC East title and subsequent playoff berth.

Well, it didn’t look all that easy for Foles in the preseason opener for the 2014 season on Friday night against the Chicago Bears, as he has already matched his entire interception total from last season.

Needless to say, Foles was not all that effective this season. Overall on the night, Foles finished 6-of-9 for just 44 yards with the two picks and no touchdowns.

But again, it is the preseason, and Chip Kelly and his offensive staff will surely put in some overtime in the film room this week to figure out what went wrong with their starting quarterback on Friday night, and get it fixed immediately.

A lot of this offense, as we saw last season, rides on how effective Foles can manage things under center.
