The second season of the ABC Original Series Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is preparing to premiere the second season of the hit series, and there are plenty of exciting surprises in store.

Agent Phil Coulson and his team encountered a plethora of issues last season.

In addition to dealing with the centipede issue, which remained a resounding theme throughout the season, they also had to deal with the betrayal of one of their own and the invasion of HYDRA, which infiltrated the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization at the highest levels possible.

There was one question that dangled in front of our face all season long that we never quite got an answer to. Just who, or what for that matter, Skye really is. We know that she is not human, as she was classified as an O-8-4 when she was just a small child; however, her true origin was never revealed.

At the end of the Season Finale, we watched as Raina entered into a room and handed a mysterious person or creature of some sort, a photo and informed them that they had located his daughter. Just who was this person?

Well, we don’t know exactly who (or what) this person was, but we do know who will be playing them in the next season. According to TV Line, Believe actor Kyle MacLachlan has been cast as Skye’s father in the upcoming second season of the series.

This is reassurance that we will be getting an answer to at least one of the many questions that we have going into next season. As for the rest of our looming questions; like what is going on with Coulson, how does he plan to rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D., and when will HYDRA rear their ugly head once again; those will all have to wait for now.

Thankfully, the wait won’t be that much longer.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premieres its second season on Tuesday, September 23rdat 9:00 p.m. on ABC.
